What is digital photography? Digital photography is a techno way to capture images for the same reasons as traditional photography, only digital offers a way to send and utilize images in every way someone would ever want. You can print to any medium, send images quick via email to ad agencies, newspapers, magazines, or save to CD-Rom for "tweaking later" or archive in that family tree box of treasured memories. Is there a difference between digital prints and film prints? When using a professional level camera with quality photo printers which print in high resolution and the highest quality supplies are used, a digital print can last over 100 years when kept protected behind glass and away from direct sun. The digital print lifespan & quality is comparable to traditional film prints. What advantages does digital offer over film? Prints are beautiful, almost no visual difference, and uses of the digital images are endless. Business clients are techno ready, brides can save the images as wallpaper, email nuts can email the world, and creative souls can manipulate images into works of art. What is the advantage of digital images versus film negatives? Digital images are stored on CD-Rom (similar to those little round things AOL keeps sending out to everyone). This offers long term storage of your precious memories or important photos with out worry of bending, humidity, dust and father time. Digital images can be used for many, many applications. The ability to access the digital images on your computer is a lot faster than searching the old shoeboxes for the right set of negatives - only to wait developing time to find out they were scratched. Why should we choose digital if all we want is prints? Digital images are stored by the camera on micro drives with large storage capacities. This allows the photographer to capture hundreds of large sized, high resolution images without reloading "film". Then only the great images are printed and the all the images stored on CD-Rom in case you need more. The images chosen will print beautifully whether printing on 4 x6 glossy paper or 13X19 canvas cloth. What are other advantages of digital? Digital images can be used to create beautiful works of art when combined with the amazing effects offered by high end imaging software. Also life's little imperfections can be altered to raise self esteem, eliminate objectionable background images, color enhance, color alter to sepia tone, or even change to black and white.
